You might want to consider starting a new campaign. If you're playing with WOTC then disable the checkbox for Integrated DLC Content when starting a new campaign to lock the Viper King and his friends behind a unique mission like how it worked in baseline XCOM 2. Leave the other DLC checkboxs checked or you'll really be thrown in the meat grinder.

Normally the Viper King will Spawn at the first Supply Raid on April5. This is mission6. The Berzerker Queen will spawn on May25 during the first Council Mission. She will spawn regardless if you have killed the Viper King or not. The Archon King will spawn between June24-July4 so far. edit: This is for WOTC with Lost and Abandoned disabled.

#1 talemore Jan 6, 2017 @ 8:18am If you only have rookies and you face an alien ruler all you can do is to hope it will bait on the rookies while the VIP runs to the evac, then buy new recruits. We only care about the performance and if the VIP reaches the evac point the mission is over. No one cares about the man under the stage.

First Time Viper King : r/XCOM2 by lipstar First Time Viper King I'm playing c/i. There's an alien facility with an "extremely powerful alien" - assuming it is the Viper King. I've never fought the VK before. I heard he reacts on every action you make. But some things you can do without him reacting back?? Anyways, anyone have any info or tips?
